When It Rains...It Pours

Hey

So I want to start off by saying my inspiration for this post came on Tuesday when I was trying to get to class. It was a beautiful day when I woke up. The skies were sunny and the air was warm. The weather forecast called for rain later on in the evening. I wasn't too worried and I put on my Polo dress with some Sperry's. When I look out of my window, I notice that the sky is dark and there are lots of clouds. I decide to swap my dress for some skinny jeans and a long sleeve t shirt. When I open the door, it is pouring outside! I didn't have my raincoat at my place and I left my umbrella at my parents house. I managed to find an umbrella in my crowded apartment and realized when I went to open it, that it was broken. I had to hold the umbrella to keep it open! During what seemed like the longest walk of my life, I had the inspiration to write a post about rainy day outfits. So if there is ever a day when you wake up and it is raining, I have some cute outfit ideas that are sure to inspire.

First, I have this cute outfit that I put together consisting of cuffed jeans, a long sleeved blouse (in a bright color of course!)and rubber rain flats. (These are Hunter so they are specifically made for rain.)  I tied it all together with a pretty printed scarf and an umbrella.

Next is this classic rain look that includes an long-sleeved oversized t shirt, comfy leggings and a rain jacket completed by some pretty colored rain boots. Make your outfit more personalized by adding a monogram to your rain jacket.

Finally, I have this athletic rainy day look. I see a lot of people wearing athletic wear when it rains. Its easy, comfy and we really don't care if it gets a wet. Here I have a tank top paired with some compression shorts (they make your legs and butt look really nice) and a pair of sneakers (make sure the sneakers are not mesh, water will soak right through mesh and make your socks and feet wet all day). To complete the outfit, I added a pullover rain jacket and fun printed socks.

I hope you liked one of the outfits, our got some inspiration for your own outfits. I'd love to hear your thoughts, so comment or email me: Wellroundedcollegegirl@gmail.com.

Are You Bikini Ready?

The first day of summer is approaching quickly, in fact the official first day is in 2 days!

So if you are not exactly ready to put on your bikini and head to the beach, I have out together some of my favorite exercises that really firm up your muscles effectively. The best part, is you don't have to go to the gym! They do require equipment but they can be substituted if needed.

Yoga Ball Leg Lifts
(Works Abs, and Inner Thighs)

Place a yoga ball between your legs and your arms extended to your sides. Slowly lift your legs until they are at a 90 degree angle with the ground, lower back down to the ground. That's one rep. Do 3 sets of 10. Rest about 40-60 seconds between sets. ****If you do not own a yoga ball, you can use a box or a beach ball**** (photo credit: Shape Magazine)

Squat Pulses
(Works Butt and Quads)

Get into a squat position with you butt out, chest up, feet shoulder width apart and knees in line with toes. Make sure your heels are supporting your weight and quickly pulse up and down. The key is not to go too high and let your butt do the work. Pulse for 3 sets of one minute each. Rest about 40-60 seconds between sets. (photo credit: Health.com)

Squat Press
(Works Butt and Shoulders)

Get into a squat position and hold the dumbells on either either side of your head as shown above. As you stand, rotate your arms to lift up with palms facing out. as you go back into the squat position, rotate your arms to get back in the starting position. That's one rep. Use heavy weight and do 3 sets of 10. Wait about 40-60 seconds between reps. ****If you don't have dumbells, use wine or liquor bottles**** (photo credit: muscleandfitnesshers.com)

Plank Row
(Works Back, Abs and Shoulders)

Get into a plank position with your back flat with abs engaged and holding a dumbell in each hand as shown above. Take your left arm back as if you are rowing a boat while holding the dumbell. Place it back down and repeat for the right. Make sure to keep your arm and elbow close to your body and don't move your elbow or arm side to side. Do 3 sets of 10 reps on each arm with a heavy weight. Rest 40-60 seconds between sets ****if you don't have dumbells! use wine or liquor bottles**** (photo credit: womenshealthmag.com)

Dumbell Side Leans

Stand up straight with feet shoulder width apart and a dumbell in each hand. Start by leaning over to the left slowly and then slowly come back up. Repeat to the right. Do 3 sets of 10 reps on each side. Rest 40-60 seconds between sets. ****again, if you don't have dumbells! you can use wine and liquor bottles.****

A Re-introduction

Hey everyone!

As I posted last week, I'm currently rebranding. I'm pretty much done except for some minor things but I decided since I'm starting anew, I should reintroduce myself and post another my favorite things  which I do every season as fashion trends go in and out.

This is me. I love the color purple, hence the purple dress. I was 18 here and attending my first college. This was a picture taken before a residence hall date event. I no longer have hair down to my waist and I don't have contacts anymore. I missed my glasses.

This is my second year at the same college. I'm 19 and have my characteristic glasses and my hair is cut and dyed to its current style. This was taken on my friend Ashton's hall as we were going out to a Halloween party.

This is my third year of school. I am 20 and now into fitness and snapped a post workout selfie. My obsession has only grown since this.

This is the most recent picture I have. I'm 21 and hanging out with some cool animals and my boyfriend. I snapped a selfie, and then made him pose for a photo. He loves me.

Now, since it's summer, I present to you the trends and things I'm obsessed with...

My Favorite Things Summer

To start with, I'm really obsessed with pocket tees. I probably own at least 7! This one is from Palmetto Moon and I'm in love with the bow anchor on the pocket as well as the light baby blue color. My next favorite is the baseball hat. I'm always wearing my Ralph Lauren hat, people on campus could probably identify me just from that hat. I love this baby blue color, and although mine is purple, I still love it. I recently got a new pair of sneakers and I noticed when I was shopping that I drawn to the shoes with bright color combinations. I love the bright blue and highlighter yellow on this shoe, and I just happen to love Nike. These printed shorts are just lovely and the anchors make it 100 times better! I love J Crew's chino shorts and I own like 6 pairs. Printed shorts are now my favorite because you can pair them with plain colored tees and cute tops. Another thing on my list is striped dresses. I absolutely love stripes and dresses so bringing them together is even better. You can pair them with flip flops for a casual look or flats for a more dressed up look. My other obsession is Jack Rogers sandals, I have two pairs and they are my favorite. They go with everything and it's awesome. I take with me when I go to the beach or the pool, I've worn them out to dinner, I wear them to class, the possibilities are endless! I'm obsessed with scallops. They are so pretty and dainty. They can make any item of clothing look more girly. I especially like them on swim suits and purses. And finally, I'm obsessed with the new grayish white hues of nail polish that have been on every nail polish color trend for this spring/summer. It goes with everything but it isn't overwhelmingly white.

Now that you have been re-introduced to me, I say let Well Rounded College Girl begin!

Warm Weather Is Here!

HEY!
It's June and that means that it's almost the official first day of summer! Summer means warm weather, pools, the beach, the lake, cold drinks, cookouts and last but not least...the perfect swimsuit! The perfect swimsuit can be hard to find, that's for sure. Some guides provide suits for your body type, or trendy new patterns and shapes, but the most important part is to find one that fits your unique style and will work with the many activities you plan on enjoying this summer. I have put together a guide based on stereotypical styles that most women fall into some way or another. I have sporty, girly, trendy, vintage, and preppy. Each category has their own types of fits and patterns. A sporty girl who spends a lot of time on the beach or pool playing games is definitely going to want something that they can move around in. For her, she would want something with straps that won't fall down and something that doesn't have too much flair that gets in the way, such as fringe. So take a look and maybe you will find your new favorite or you will find an idea for what kind of suit you want.

Swim suits For Sporty Girls

For you sporty girls, I have suits with thick straps and lots of support on top. For the bottom I have shorts, and low maintenance bikini bottoms. Just because you are sporty doesn't mean you don't like to have pretty things. That's why I included a floral top for those who like girly prints but prefer to be athletic and sporty. Sporty girls have all the fun so enjoy getting down with the guys and still looking cute. ;)

Swim suits for Girly Girls

Okay girlies, we know that you LOVE frills, flowers and lace and sometimes that can be hard to find in a swim suit. Don't worry though, I found some pretty suits that are just as cute as you. I included a floral halter top, a standard bikini top with ruffles and a lacy bandeau. To go with your adorable tops, I have a cheeky floral bottom, a bikini bottom with an attached skirt and a frilly pink bikini bottom. These suits are perfect for lounging around by the pool or beach and they are sure to bring the right kind of attention that a lady expects. :)

Swimsuits for Vintage Girls

Hey you vintage girlies, we all know you LOVE being pretty and extracting the vintage pin up girl look so the best way to do that is of course by donning your high waist bikini bottoms. Black is classic and will slim your midsection, that is why I included it. The colorful ones bring some modernity to the look (and who doesn't like funky prints and colors?) . The tops I had a little fun with and included and plain black bandeau with a bow in the middle, a structured balconette top in pink, a thick green halter (for our busty ladies) and a red halter with some jewel detailing in the middle. Who says you can't be modern with a vintage inspired suit? :P

Suits For Trendy Girls

Hey! For my women who like to stay up with the latest and greatest trends, I have a few suits for you that are perfect for lounging, and taking a little refreshing dip. As far as bottoms go, I found some cute cheeky bottoms with the sides cut out for an extra sexy factor. Also some bright yellow crocheted bottoms are perfect for showing off your perfect tan. For those of you who love patterns, I have some side tie chevron print bottoms that are very low cut but great for working on your tan. To pair with these sexy bottoms, I have a cut out bandeau tops that will no doubt, give you an interesting tan, but who cares? It's cute! Same with the next one, it is a halter top that is cut out in the back and on the shoulders, but.....again, it is absolutely stunning! Last but not least, I have some popular trends for tops including the fringe, and the crop top. If you want to be trendy and different go for the first ones, you will be the envy of all the women :D

Swimsuits for Preppy Girls

Alright ladies, there's a reason I left y'all for last, I have a special place in my heart for the preppy style. It is a classic style that will never go in or out. It is my personal favorite because it mixes girly, sporty and vintage all in one. So whether you are going to be on the boat, the beach or just a pool side barbeque, these suits will do the trick. A bow bandeau with matching pink bottoms is the perfect girly touch for a barbeque. The scalloped bra top and floral bottoms are great for a vacation on the beach. The structured Lilly bandeau top with plain navy bottoms are perfect for hanging out on a boat, and the green bikini top with nautical striped bottoms are great for any occasion where you want to add a nautical flair. Remember preppy girls...no outfit is complete without Lilly by your side. May she rest in peace...
